What is XPde?

It's a desktop environment(XPde) and a window manager(XPwm) for Linux. It tries to make easier for Windows XP users to use a Linux box. Nothing more, no clipboard compatibility between Gtk and Qt applications, no emulation of Windows applications, no unification on the widgets of X applications, just a desktop environment and a window manager.

Thanks Ace. I will try it on my mandrake box. Do you know of a way to run MSN under Linux? Let me know if you hear of anything.

...you can mod even mod KDE to look like that...

terabyte: try GAIM... I use that all the time... works on Win and Linux...

Why would you want to use the XPde? Linux desktop is much better and it's not that hard to learn at all.

Oh and by the way, have you guys heard of the propaganda or trick that was used by Microsoft some time ago regarding SuSe Linux? Microsoft hired someone to sell the SuSe distribution of the Linux to a town because at that time SuSe was very hard and not too good so that people would stay away from Linux.

I think this is another way Microsoft is trying to get people back to its products by distributing software on linux that mimic Microsoft.....i.e."look at me I look like Microsoft!". lol. icon_mrgreen.gif --yeah right...I'm trying to run away from Microsoft.

Anyway, that is my opinion and if you like the XPde then just use the damm XP itself!!! Why mess-up your linux??? Linux by itself looks much better than Microsoft.
In fact, I've seen some screenshots of the coming Microsoft Windows product and they are copying Linux ideas!!!

Check these Linux screenshots at Microsoft!: Linux screenshots
