I am trying to see if I can whiten my teeth with whitening strips before I go to the dentist. 12 more days left. This is the second time I've used them and they apprear a little whiter. Hopefully, I will see a noticable difference in the two week time period. If not, off to the dentist and a higher bill. Boo hiss.

Please share your experience and all good advice. Cheers.

I used some of the paint-on stuff once. Used according to directions for the time specified, my teeth ended up one whole shade whiter on the scale. And then promptly went back to their "normal" colour within a week of stopping use of the product.
I've since decided if it really bothers me, I should go to the dentist to have them bleached, since the endless years of OTC product use stretching into the future does not appeal to me.

I used them!!
They made my teeth horribly sensitive during, and thought I was going to die!! You will definitely notice a difference in two weeks.
I also have before and after pics of my own!! BWAHAHAHAHA

J/K Bro!!!!!!
My dentist told me that the whitening strips do not work - he suggested dental bleaching or laminates. Of course both procedures cost considerably more that whitening strips.

I am using a generic brand (Shoppers Drug Mart) and believe I see a difference after just two uses. However, that could be wishful thinking.

None over the pond, huh. Interesting.

Hmmmm.....I missed this post when I was on earlier - can't say I need to use them matey! My uncle is a dentist (well not really since he semi-retired last year) and has looked after our families teeth since birth - my teeth are strong and good!

Mine also. No fillings and no cavities in my chops that I know of. However, they are a little coffee stained I want to remove that. After the strips if they still aren't "clean and white enough", arrangements with the dentist will be made for a thorough check up and cleaning and maybe even whitening. We'll see.

I think you will get some good results, t_b

I tried the Crest ones, and the results are supposed to last 6 months to a year. I find a little hard to believe, but I guess we'll see!!

The products described all use a weak form of carbamide peroxide , usually about 10%. The lesser the concentration , the slower the results but the better it it tolerated. As the bleach agents penetrate the enamel , various degrees of tooth sensitivity are experienced. Once bleached the teeth will slowly darken over time but can be "maintained' by intermittent use. If you wish to get a faster or stronger product , you can obtain a 16% or a 22% strength and use in tray overnight. See
this link for more information.

I've used the trays with the strong peroxide solution. Had to keep them in for 30 - 60 minutes while they foamed and did there job and in the process the nasty tasting stuff runs down your throat and makes you salivate like a son of a gun.
After 6 - 8 treatments my teeth were visibly whiter by about 3 or 4 shades. Although to keep them pristine I'd need to forego coffee, red wine and the occasional smoke or three... no thanks.
