Please, just close the window right now if your THAT against FutureMark 03'. Any way, Macci from XtremeSystems.org has recently SHATTERED the previous 03' record by 5k with the new x800Pro (only 12 pipeline, the XT = 16). ATi has recognized his efforts and given him a special "Press Anouncment."
FutureMark's Web ReleaseAny way, this is a pretty good feat, and should mean good things gaming for us gamers. I can't awit to get mine.

Ok back on topic.
So tell me something, the guy that broke the 3dMark bench only got a press release from ATi.
I'd be wanting alittle more then a press release. Like maybe some stock options in ATI, or a staff position, or more video cards, or something but a stupid press release.
Like come on after forking out money for an expensive piece of hardware, you'd expect something in reutrn.

He may be getting sponsored eventually, actually, he MAY be already. I'm not sure. Because he did do that benching for them at some place with ATi there, so he probably got the card for free, and also I beleive the card he benched with wont be out to the public for another week or two

and you'll probably have to mortgage a house to get one. I'm sorry but the price for thiese cards is waaaaaaaayyyy out of line with other hardware prices.
They are too expensive.

400 for the Pro/500 for the XT
It's a bit much, yes. But every card in the past couple years has been. It's new tech, same as with the A64's. No one wants to buy one, but there worth it. May not be worth it to you right this second, but give it a few months or a year and you won't regret it.
My .02 any way

If it wasnt for peoples lust of higher framerates and higher benchmarking scores, video card technology would not be were its is today. Its folks like that that brought us out of the stoneage.

The simple fact is J that these people are the ones that spend all the big bucks on these video cards so the industry has the money to develope better cards. These people are willing to spend 500 bucks on a video card if its the fastest A very strong incentive for the companies to push and push for faster and better cards. As in most things , its a matter of were the money hes being spent.

People who buy the top end cards are in a minority the money comes from the mid to low end ranges.
Its a continous loop of better games require better cards require better games....
Another reason ATI and Nvidia push each other to create better cards.

Hmm... whats the clock speeds on that beast?
GoKu
May 22 2004, 10:23 PM
Overclockers deffinately influence the markets, don't even say it doesn't. What's the ABIT IC7-MAX3 for, and please don't tell me for some average joe smoe to have extra cooling and more volts to his ram, that's absurd. It's playing such a big role in products today it's not funny. I'll tell you, companys don't add after market cooling to there things for normal consumers. That's for sure.
