crazyjim
For some reason, my sound icon isn't loading up in the system tray.

And my sound works in any media that plays in windows media player or winamp... but any flash animations or website noise, or errors/beeps on the computer, loading sounds etc... none of them work wallbash.gif

I can't figure this shit out help.gif

edit: The box IS checked to show in the taskbar, but it still isn't

Try removing the sound card from device manager and let it re-detect in on bootup.
crazyjim
didn't work, any other ideas?

icon_cry.gif Hmmmmmmmm, you try re-installing the drivers? Also, open WMP, to to tools, options, file types, click select all (even though they may all be selected), then click apply.
crazyjim
Why would that matter... with the WMP I mean... the sound works in there, it's just like the "beeps" and stuff don't work... any windows sounds, starting up, shutting down, and neither do any website sounds or program sounds, such as voice in yahoo.

As far as the drivers... what would I install? I've tried installing XP SP1 but it won't let me due to serial key issus whistling.gif

BTW another problem I've had for quite some time is that I can't get into regedit wallbash.gif and I can't install the drivers for XP cause I don't have the disk anymore icon_cry.gif

No regedit? sounds like a virus to me.

Hrmmm... well I'll be re-formatting now, buddy of mine is going to lend me a 160 gig HDD to move all my stuff to.

you try changing the pci slot it's in? the slot might have died...
