My friend CoZ would like to send me his FF wheel which he does not use anymore. What a great guy!

International shipping via FedEx, DHL or UPS would cost more than it's worth, so USPS would be the only alternative I know of. Could they be trusted with an insured package? Shipping time does not count (if it won't take a year

), reliability does.
Any opinions or experiences? Please post!
Thanks!
And thanks again, CoZ!

I had a package shipped cross border, initially it was usps, and the package was in excellent condition, considering it went from one country to the other.

The package Nazis!!! Oh no!! LOL. Yeah, they are okay. A bit dumb but okay. I use the Canadian Post Office so there won't be any duty tacked on at the far end. Bass turds. :grrrr:

I was head of international procurement for a military supplies company and we used DHL exclusively for all international orders so I guess I can't comment on USPS so nevermind, LOL.

USPS will do fine, IF the package is well wrapped (peanuts in an inner box packed with peanuts in a sturdy box at least 2" larger on all sides) think of packing it as if some one might stand on it (they're not supposed to but it could be at the bottom of a container) the packing will probably wieght twice what the wheel does.
And USPS does provide insurance on international parcel post pretty cheaply ($2.60 for a $100 item)
Still a 5 pound package with $100 insurance will be abot $25

Yes, I would.
But if I can help having something shipped to me via UPS, I will. They charge way too much in terms of fees. (Were they brokerage fees? I forget...)

yes UPS has atrocious brokerage fees, something like 27 bucks CAD on a 90 dollar sale... plus GST and PST... what ever happened to NAFTA?

Well, I think if Pappy's package got to Romania in one piece, we might just trust the USPost. This package would be around 30 with them, and around 200 USD with the other services!
Thank you for your insight. I would like the guys who voted NO to post some experiences, too, please
