buy a bigger drive.

naw paps, just that i dont wana stack my scsi on with my ide, might get some heatin problems..... and my 5 1/4" bays are all used so no chance of puttin hdd cooler there....

i was thinking of more some sort of mod suggestion where i could put an extra hdd mounting cage below the existing one. like the iCute 8250SL has... then i could put some fans at the front of the HDDs as well icon_eek.gif

well thats a thought then, maby you could pick up a bay at your local used comp store and rivit in place?
I don't see why not.
adhesive
duct tape the drives to the outside of the case.
makes for better cooling too.

just screw on another HD cage...
grab one from an old AT case, or see if a friend has an extra...
Kingbob
if not space for hdd cage underneath ur original one fix one to the bottom of ur case on the base and then fix 8cm fans ither side of the cage

use mechanno, you know, the little pieces of metal with holes in them... get 4 long stripes, and screw them on... should work fine. provide alot of air circulation too.

ok... so should i be able to walk into any hardware store and be able to buy myself a "meccano/mechanno"? icon_eek.gif

is it a relatively simple strip of metal with holes?... how would i attach it to the base of my case though? i could think of a way to attach it to the existing cage but the base of my case? hmmmm suggestions?

mechanno is a revision of an earlier toy made in the 50s/60s I believe, I don't know what it was called back then. So it is my guess that you should be able to pick up refill packs or something for quite cheap, try your local toy shop... and about mounting something on the base, just spend a bit of time with it, and you should be able to make a simple box. double sided tape, and the thing wont move. Place a fan under it to keep those babies cool. Hope this helps.

im really trying to keep away from using tapes though.... i can get quite particular when it comes to doing modifications... picky even... icon_eek.gif

and i wont use plastic either heheheh... ill go have a look into it and see what i can come up with.... wonder if i can get hold of a riveter.... but then id better damn well make sure i measure everything properly... wont i look like a fool when my hdd doesnt even fit icon_twisted.gif

The local hardware store sells rolls or strips of strap metal (with little hole in it) and its cheap. Its used to bracket things, such as a HD. icon_biggrin.gif

Meccano is the successor to the [size=18]Erector sets of the 1930's through the 1960's. You can find their stuff in most stores in the toy section. (like in the lego aisle). I think that modding with their stuff would be a cool idea. good luck!!!

thats not funny dr_geek , i hoped no one would rem that.
I taught my sisters to make things with that stuff.
guess i'm old
