Okay, explain to me again the "within 400 points" rule.

Explain how we can bring the lead cars out and have them in the middle of the pack and end up with an 18 car pile up.

Explain how we cannot call a caution after Casey "Worse than a field filler but I've got a famous name" Mears lays down oil and knocks out the best car of the day.

Then try to make me understand the logic of taking Jr. onto the lead lap so he could make a charge at what would have been a completely unearned victory. If you're a lap down at caution then you damn well should be a lap down when we go back to green.

Dude, it is what it is. I have no idea why any of what you outline is part of NASCAR's rules... except for the 'Lucky Dog' or 'Lap-Back' rule.

They enacted the rule of the 1st car 1-lap down gets a free pass back onto the lead lap because of everybody racing back to the caution flag at the start-finish line. Dale Jarrett was sitting in a burning vehicle trying to get out while people were zipping by at full speed when NASCAR decided to do something about it. Hence, the rule. I kinda like the rule... but I kinda liked racing back too. Oh well.

The 400 point thing just pisses me off - even more so since Rusty's just outside of the cut-off. But mostly because it's going to mean that we're in for some crappy racing then. None of the teams outside of the cut-off will ever be seen on the camera unless they win or they're wrecking. And if there's no chance of coming back to even get into the top ten, why bother racing hard? I can see a lot of teams basically just giving up and riding around the last 10 races of the season.

The restart just happened that way, since they line up behind the pace car however they line up behind the pace car when the caution comes out. If the lapped cars decide not to pit, then they're in line ahead of the lead lap cars. Sounds weird, but that's how it is.

They screwed up the caution when Mears blew up - plain and simple. Kahne got robbed as well.

Nice to see Mark Martin win though.

It was nice to see an old guy win, especially since he ran a great race. I'd still like to see the "Lap Back" disappear. ANd here's an idea, let the cars go around the track until they line up behind the pace car in order... jawdrop.gif

I was annoyed at NASCAR mucking about for ages, and not putting Kahne and Mayfield behind the pace car and not behind the slower lapped cars, and THAT in my mind caused the big wreck that put a lot of the front runners out of contention.

I agree it's a bad rule as well, they need to let those guys go around so we can have a clean restart. The worst part of the wreck was that it was in turn 4 and I was sitting in turn 2.

I did...they will be up sometime. Hopefully I have high speed net in my hotel so they will be up then. I do not have the time today.
