So if the Pentium M is destined to supplant the P4 Prescotts, what socket will it use? When is the switch?

By Pentium M I assume you mean the Donathan cores that will start running on the PR system similarly used by the current AXP/A64 family? Ahh... those are pretty damn good CPU's. I'm not sure what socket, I heraed a rumoured upgrade to 754 but I highly doubt it for those, I'm not sure no official word (that I'v read.) Intel trashed the Teja's and are gunna start making the PM's for desktops as you know, the switch I'm not sure when probably a long while... the P4 line still sells too well. Sorry I don't have the info you want thumbdown.gif

For whatever reason, I have no edit button. I meant Dothan cores, not Donathan, my mistake. icon_redface.gif

There will be a few Prescott revisions before the Pentium M desktop chips but who knows what socket it will use and when it will happen.

Good, then I'll stick with a 875P offering.

From what I read this is a CPU for embedded systems.... Why would you want such a thing... icon_question.gif

You wouldn't yet but I have read on the net that Intel have scrapped Tejas the Prescott replacement and are moving over to the Pentium m chip.

The Pentium M is Intel's laptop chip currently.
