Help!!!! My comp crashed last night. When I tried to reboot, all I get is beeps. The monitor, nor the keyboard are responding. Is there hope, or should I call Dell.? fragend013.gif
AceHigh
Call Dell. If all you get is beeps, then the motherboard don't like something, like mem, cpu, or even system fan. it will not boot if the system fan fails.

icon_cry.gif Thanks. Hope Dell will ship me a new one overnite. The D.T.'s have already set in. LOL

not constant beeping. beeps about 4 times pause then a couple of more beeps. It 's a gateway, so ......there ya go. Think maybe give Dell a try, start fresh. What do you guys think? Btw, I am using comp at work. sshhhh, don't tell anybody.
AceHigh
Well, call gateway then. icon_rolleyes.gif Is it still under warranty?
pappy177
smokeing attracts dust , dust makes heat , thats a maby.
Dell is the better rig.
queen bw
I will call Gateway, but I know I will get the run around. I Dust that puppy 2 and even 3 times a month Pap, should I dust more. And yes I do mean inside the tower. winkiss.gif
pappy177
just a fluke maby , something went sour, maby what exactly are the beeps? number and such.
odie
In all honesty queen, you should get bully to build you one from quality parts. That way you know what your getting. Might cost you a little more in the long run, but i'd trust bull over a dell rep anyday...

just my 2 cents.

I thought you giggled your legs too hard and knocked the plug out of the wall. Sorry to hear about your withdraw. I have back up systems as long as the house doesn't catch fire. cocky.gif

If you want to go that route, I would be more than happy to work with you. Otherwise if you go pre-build, I agree with pap that dell is a better option.

As far as the beeps. I think that is the beep combo that I got when my vid card went tits up. You are getting nothing on the moniter at all?

DLB may have an old vid card, switch that out and see what you get?

Let me know if you want me to start shopping (hmmmm carol gets my 20GB hdd and bully gets bigger). Did I say that out loud? icon_wink.gif
BigO
With Dell you pay for a name. I would be honered to build you a machine. I will order the parts, build it ,load XP, and test it , and ship to you....say the word. If you decide to go the Dell route, I think you would be happy with that too. Their service ratings are not so good anymore though. Bull could build you a machine, but he would have to use a screwdriver!!!! icon_eek.gif

Thanks Guys. I am getting a Dell. For several reason, a payment plan the biggiest. icon_wink.gif Talk with Gateway for a couple of hours last night, it would be just as expension to repair than to get a new. of course warranty ran out 3 months ago. I would have loved for Bull or BigO to build me one, but my hands are already shaking from lack of comp time. Dell promised I would have my hands on the comp by wens. So until then, any one that has some extra valium laying around...send it my way. yes.gif hug.gif
bull
Soooooo, you wanna sell any of the old parts, like...maybe....a hdd?? icon_wink.gif
BigO
You would rather buy a cookie cutter, off the shelf computer, than own a BigO or Bull orginal creation???? icon_eek.gif Just kiddin, go with the warrenty and the payment plan.
But I got to say, as Pap is trying to point out, those beebs are telling you the problem....hard to believe it wouldnt be cheaper to fix (I think Queen just wants a new machine icon_wink.gif )

Now about that hard drive 285.gif

i would dare say the Dell she bought is much better than yours Manny

Have to agree there. At least Dell does use quality components. The only real drawback is the locked down bios and the OEM version of XP (which is not horrible).

I would prefer to build my own, but then again...I don't have a payment plan. icon_wink.gif

Well I am back, got the Dell, like Pappy told me to...see I do listen to you peeps. So far so good, it will be better when I get my old hd integrated, thinking about putting it on as a slave and having two hd, that is if I can get PW to mosey down here and do it for me. Thanks for all your help. And yes I do love working with photos, that is when I can find time between emailing, messaging and bs with the peeps. icon_razz.gif BTW, don't know what I would do with out you guys. Thank you very much.
