Check this out, folks <Eric, Mongo, I'm lookin' at you on this one>

www.4x4support.com

Found this site on JU and thought would pass it on for those that
didn't see it. It is a site to maintain a database of a group of
people willing to provide assistnace to others in the group. You
have to be a member to search the database so the information isn't
sold or published. If you were in a distant town and broke down,
then you could go to a public library to look up the info or call
back to someone you know and have them look it up.

So far they have about 300 members with more joining every day.
Check it out and sign up if you think it is worth it. Besides seeing
the post on JU and visiting the site, I know nothing about it.

But I did like it enough to sign up.

Thanks for the tip, BK. Not so oddly enough, Four Wheelers are about the most helpful and friendly people you'll ever meet. Most have handy and extensive skills in automotive repair, or know several friends who do and are willing to help as well. A lot of us view getting a vehicle back into operation as a challenge and often have fun doing it.

There's more to modern Four Wheelers than your basic 'Redneck Booney-Bouncer and Mud Slinger.'

Absolutely.

Just volunteered myself this week to help two folks Idon't even know from the local club-- both distant relations of members.

Also, my XJ is fast becoming a mobile repair facility. I have to assemble my onboard air and just picked up a 2200 watt generator <for $25!> that'll make my 120V MIG a portable welder.

Any excuse to wrench or burn steel is a good one!

What are you using for your OBA tank? I saw an article in 4Wheel & Off Road a few years ago that used about a 1' section of 8" PVC w/threaded end-caps - good up to 120psi. I was intrigued - then lost the magazine.

I need something about that size to mount to my grill/radiator support on the passenger side (or maybe the fender instead). I've got to keep in mind that my 360 will be a bunch wider than the 4.2L I-6.

I'm going to use my former A/C System's York compressor, since it's already mounted and the belt strung.

I don't suppose either of you would have any use for an old a/c compressor out of a late model S10? Got one taking up space in my garage. Was going to try to find a way to shoehorn it into something, but really just don't have the time for it.

Also, thanks for the tip, BK ... considering joining in. Gotta put my deisel to use somehow, right? Besides pulling the odd 4x2 knucklehead out of ankle-deep muck. icon_lol.gif

PM me with the details of that compressor- does it work, etc.

I need one for my Blazer.
