I don't mean it as spam, I don't mean it as stealing members from 4Peeps. I just need some help...

ho hum... just another one of 10 billion of these sites.... what is to be accomplished? if any of you think that your site is going to generate lots of $$$ then think again.
I see these sites as communities. If they happen to generate lots of $$$ then great, but I, for one, would never expect that to happen. These things are a labor of love more than anything else. I'll stick here. I like the dudes and dudettes who hang out here.

Nick, your site looks nice.. but what is different about it? I am only playing Devil's advocate to get people to think
Are you doing this because you really want to? and if so, why?
are u selling stuff? what is the purpose? to build your own community?
I am just confused that so many people blast up a phpnuke site and get the typical news-feeds and posters.
If you wrote your own material, you would get more folks to read and link to you lik the Inquirer's Mike McGee... just rehashing news from other sources is kinda boring...
not trying to knock you guys... I just am trying to kick out some thoughts, opinions, and maybe ideas that could spell sucess for you. web based business is really tight these days.
What is your main interest? maybe focus the site... these tech sites are a dime a dozen for the most part.

I agree with you mandark... somewhat... but I am sure people will agree with me that I or anyone else (with a busy job) haven't the time to write their own news.
I think the problem with news is that a whole lotta peeps say they will do it, but when it comes down to setting up there account and username and pass, they post nothing, don't ask for a position if your not going to do it (it is like a job, you get a position, you're not going to walk into the office and then sit at your desk and do jack shit). The only news posters I have seen active (aside from the sites owners) are Jason and me...
I know the news I post is spattered all over the net on other tech sites, but hey at least I take the time to read through (most of it

) it and add my 2 cents at the end when I see fit... thats my contribution to the news i post... my 2 cents... if peeps don't like my opinion or comments on a news article well thats there decision, but I get a laugh out of it and I hope others do too... trying to make some boring tech news funny... cause you have to admit, some of the shit posted on the net is boring...
I think the only news that gets the hits is leaked versions of this and that, or released beta versions of useless utilities (DX9 Beta), I don't know where to find this shit so I post the basic stuff...
but I do agree with you on most of your points brother.... thats my 2 cents :P

Sorry for my peviously uncalled for post...
Well, Jargonnet.com is trying to be a semi-professional news portal, except we're going to take it to the next level by writing editorals, columns and offer more indepth news, with some humor too.
We're trying to be more then the rest of the tech sites out there, this isn't a hobby site, this is a full on effort, by a whole team.
I've been talking to some of the administrators about an affialation between 4Peeps and Jargonnet.com, and I do hope this goes through, as 4Peeps.com serves as an excellent off the wall news source, with a fantastic community to back it.
Thanks.

Right on man, so laid back I use a respirator to do my breathing.
Cut him some slack man, he is just trying to get some help, at least u can be nice to him, wtf is this for some shit...i always thought people here were kind and willing go give a FRIEND a helping hand, as far as i know Technik is a FRIEND of ours, or maybe thats just me?
Wtf is wrong with him making a little dream come true, by creating his own webside, with forum and news, thats exactly what u guys did by making 4peeps.com wth did u do it? for what purpose? there is as you say your self, alot of other sites, that is both BIGGer and BETTER than 4peeps.com so why the hell did u bother to make it?!
Thats exactly what you are telling him now, aint that some shit?

There's a reason I left 4peeps.com and this is one of them, you guys are not the same anymore, and this new found hatred towards me really ices the cake.
You know, whatever, I'm glad I left this community.

Nick, if you have such a problem with the people here, why is one post angry, they next we are working on affiliation and now back to this??
If you put that post up on most forums, it would be deleted as spam. It was left and not removed.
I have no problems with you or you starting a new site, but, come on. You are a smart guy. What did you expect? There are right ways and wrong ways to go about things. This was not the right way, you know the rules. Do you see posts like that from others?
MS, I will support him and his site. I go there at least daily and will register at the forums and post when get time.
Chill out people. sheesh

God, can't peeps take humour anymore...
Tecnik, Techleet, Nick or whatever you name is, posting a new tech site is cool and all, but its like Bull said... think about... recruiting from these forums is like the HR dude from netscape communication walking into to The Microsoft Campus and saying "HEY everyone!!!, listen, if anyone wants to come and help me develop our new innovative browser, quit here and come work for me..."
You see what WE are getting at? Site is cool, the way you went about recruiting and advertising your site on these forums was unethical IMHO...
I hope your site does well, i honestly do, but you have to use some diplomacy when it comes to PR my friend.

Nick, we would be happy to give you support. You needed to talk to us. Maybe a news post on the front page and then ask for staff there. Not like we aren't still new and getting going. Respect is a 2-way street. Give some, get some back.
