Let me get this straight
you are not at home
you wish to connect from the computer you are using to the one at home (perhaps via remote desktop)
you don't have the IP address of your home computer
Am I correct so far?

Get yourself a Dynamic DNS name so you'll know anytime, anywhere your Home IP is via it's name...

Ok Is your home computers IP static (always the same, if so call the ISP)?
or dynamic?(assigned by ISP at each login, even if it usually remains the same)

Is the computer behind a router (again static or dynamic assigned by router?)?

has the computer you are using ever been remotely connected to the home unit?
Is the home computer already on and connected? or
Is there someone at home, that you have check the IP, or walk through sending a remote assistant invite/email to your current location?
Ree
I have high speed where my IP is ALWAYS the same... except after like a year it changed, i used to know it off heart but it changed for some reason beyond my knowing. I have not connected to my home unit from here, i do not have a router.

it hardly matter now though as i am heading home. I just wanted it for last night, to check something on my computer, and it was bugging me that i couldnt remember my IP

you need a free DNS service....

http://www.no-ip.com/

get the free utility and set up a free account. even when your ip changes, your dns name won't

If you have a router then there probably is a spot for it to update a DNS server... See what sevices it can connect to... ie.. dyndns or noip... then get an accoutn there and set you router up to update your free dns

dont even need that... just use noip and get the program download (free) and the thing runs as a service and updates the dns server for you.....

why wast your system time... if your router is ment to do that?
