it's not really that funny...nvnews is one of the 30 odd sites I check every day in my search for interesting tech news...They are one of the, if not the, best place to get nVidia related news...

alot of hard work goes into making a site run smoothly...
its a shock when a site goes down, because of idiots...
its a tech site, and there is no point in hacking it or whatever...

maybe something like yahoo, or cnet or even the govt...but never a little tech site...jeez...

in todays world...it is almost impossible to 100% secure your self if your a website...there are so many little holes its not funny...and it dont matter if its linux/windows/mac...they all have little holes, and al it takes is someone to try something off the wall, and they find a small hole...sad but true...

doesent matter what site it is,it is up to the owners to take it down,,not some dick cheeze,toe jam sniffing little kid that can't make a site of his own to take it down.lets hope for the best for them and hope they catch the buttbutter sniffer that did it!!

The term that many people are using "Hackers" is incorrect. People that goto sites and try to bring them down, fit more into a term know as "Script Kiddies". A "Hacker" if there is really such a person, do things that have much more meaning than bringing down 1 website, that they dislike.
In all seriousness, if you had the skillz to break into a system and wreak havoc, wouldn't you focus more of your time and energy on personal gain. Or doing something that presents a challenge. So these guys who brought down NV's website are no more than small timers. If they really had some skillz they would be going after much bigger fish.

the servers where compromised, and databases destroyed by the look of it...

The site really was "hacked" by a script kiddie...he couldnt even spell "Admin" properly....
The site(s) (nvNews & Envy) will be fully functioning again very soon.

first of all, it is never funny when a techsite goes down. most do not have direct access to the server physically, and it takes time to reupload everything.

secondly, laughing at someone elses misfortunes is asking for trouble in return...

envynews.com is a damn good site for nvidia info, aswell as reviews...they kick ass in reviews!!! its that simple...we have 1 review (mind you, its the best review i have read, ever...but its only 1)...them 100's...


if i was in their shoes, i would be pretty pissed at some of the 4peeps members...serious...if 4peeps.com went down, would you all be laughing and going on about us?...i wonder...

neilY and the gang are a bunch of "joes" like us, and we should offer to help in anyway we can...even just our support would be great...
