Dang - awful slow in this forum. Guess I should post something

Jemezman was kind enough to take some awesome pictures at the car show we entered a few weeks ago. He just needs to send me some more pictures of his now (his is the orange one... 'scuse me - Mitsubishi Durango Copper Metallic).

He was also lucky enough to win a trophy in the class he was signed up for (lucky bastard). I have the distinction of being able to brag that I have more Armor-All on my tires than any three of the other cars in the show. :bigwink:

So - without further adieu:

My yellow 'ribbon' is bigger than his

Proof that a polished turd is still a turd... just shiny.

Shit that took a long time to load.

WTF?! What's up with those fenders? That's pretty cool. Do all Jeeps comes like that? I mean, is that a factory option or something?

The orange one's cooler though.

yea I was wondering about the suicide fenders myself. Ive never owned a jeep so exuse my ignorance icon_rolleyes.gif

Nope - custom job. I used a 4' piece of stainless piano hinge from Lowe's cut into two sections. That and a handful of pop-rivets, all said cost me $8.

Makes getting into the engine compartment a lot easier. Sadly, Jeep CJ's, YJ's and TJ's are the only vehicles around that you can do this to without cutting sheetmetal.

It looks like it would fly open if you hit a bump or something.

Hey, I just noticed that your avatar looks like your Jeep. Pretty cool.

I believe he's got 1 bolt or a wingnut or something, holding each fender in the closed position. Wish I could pull that trick with my XJ...

He made that avatar custom, and a lot of others as well. He's handy like that, hadn't you noticed?

Actually, there are 3 stock mounting bolts that hold the inner edges of the fenders against the cooresponding areas of the grill. I want to put some Dzus (Zeus) clips in there for convenience (1/4 turn racing fasteners), but I haven't found any place locally, or cheap, to get them from.

There's a race-car building shop around the corner from my lab <right off-post>. Let me figure out a "use" for them on my Jeep and stop by for a couple and see if maybe I can't get some from them for cheap/free....
