Anyone try it yet? I have... and quickly reverted back to 2.80!

I have a "echo effect" coming from my speakers w/ v3.0.... like its got some sort of "concert hall" DSP assigned to it or something. Odd.

v2.80 doesn't reproduce this. It sounds like it should. As far as WMP "corona" over Winamp? No way. Look at the memory footprints and load time vs each other.... Winamp is still the best for MP3 files.... and if they fix v3.0 to get rid of the stupid "echo sound", it plays video files as well as WMP.

We could see a dethroning of a king very soon..... icon_lol.gif

Winamp probably doesn't have some 'rights management' and 'automatic update' 'features' built into it like Corona does. Maybe there's a 3D Surround Sound setting you can turn off to get rid of the echo?

Ya I tried winamp 3 recently and decided I didn't like it becasue it did play video files. I want to be able to listen to my mp3s without worrying about videos popping up randomly...
There were also a few buggy things about it too that bothered me. I'll probably try it again when the final build is announced or something. I dunno.

winamp 3.0 final is released, hence coz's post icon_smile.gif

the issues with random crashes i've experienced with the various betas seem to be gone. the app has a bunch of handy features and some not-so-handy but geeky ones i like. i could do without the vid player thingie though. it IS an audio player after all.

all in all - me like big time icon_cool.gif
adhesive
after playing a while i've noted a few things:
the shuffle feature is waaaaaaaaaaay better than in 2.*. this is REAL shuffle. no risk of running into the same songs over and over again while 200 songs never get played... *thumb up*

there is a con however, and that is the sound issue coz referred to above. i'm not getting any echo effects but i'm experiencing a slightly strange sound. kind of like it's played in a box...
it's not much, and i was able to tweak it away somewhat but it's still there, and it's annoying.

waiting eagerly for 3.01 with the sound fixed icon_cool.gif

Adhesive: do you have the SB Live card with those new (588mb) drivers?

Now that I am paying attention to my computer, I am getting a "echo effect" from almost everything.... from Neverwinter Nights starting up, to Direct Connect connecting to a HUB... every sound comes out like I am in a concert hall or something.

Maybe it's some setting I missed somewhere?

And I would sit here and talk about how much better and practical Winamp 3 is over WMP 8/9, I could give documentation on memory footprint, load times, sound decoding, etc, etc.... but we have to take one variable into account.... Sid is a Canuck... and there is no changing his mind once he has made a statement like that.... icon_rolleyes.gif

588 meg drivers sounds funny, its bigger than a damn OS size icon_lol.gif

You have a sound blaster live ? do you have any of the enviromental effects effects turned on, such as echo etc ?

Go to the control panel, audio hq, EAX control panel and check out the options there
adhesive
audio hq?
EAX control panel?

those creative software? if so, no i dont have any of them installed, even if i have a SB Live!

good card - bad software icon_evil.gif
i do believe i might have the new drivers if they were released sometime the latest months... cant seem to find the version number though icon_redface.gif
Jason
You need at least the Audio Hq part its controls the speakers etc, its a small program in the control panel.
Treytor
One thing that's bothering me is I can't find the VIS settings for the analyzer and spectrograph. I would always crank up the FPS on it and make it "fire" style with the fastest analyzer / peak falloffs. I can't seem to find those settings anywhere. I miss my silky smooth VIS's.

I'd rather have no VIS than chunky VIS...

Ok, I looked in my AudioHQ control applet, and somehow, someway a "reverb/echo" thing was applied to the speakers. No idea how that happened. Maybe ~Sid~ was messing w/ my stuff when I wasn't looking? icon_lol.gif

Regardless, I am going to wait until Winamp 3.0 STD is released and they go up a version #. Still too "BETA" for my taste at this point, even though it's a official release.

I like it....works great for me....tanks.

I love 'em to be honest. I've always wanted a set of the Klipsch just never really had the cash laying around to devote to them. However, some people don't like these speakers because they say they cost too much. I've always loved their clearity and sonic range. Personally I think they easily beat out the Logitech's, or the Cambridge Megaworks. The only two things the Megaworks have over the Klipsch is slightly less in price, and of course digital in.

I wouldn't have any other set, Klipsch rules.

QCD for MP3s (http://www.quinnware.com/news.html), sometimes Sonique. RealOne for streaming stuff.
