Looking into buying one of these. Does anyone know what they are like are they comparable to the Live!/Audigy?

If I do get the Acoustic Edge... Audigy will be up for sale for cheap... let me know thanks...

I've owned two cards from Philips, and was very impressed with them. I have yet to hear anyone complain about the Acoustic Edge. Great driver support for 2K & XP. Excellent sonic reproduction, constant driver develope with release of betas. The card also has support for EAX 1.0 & 2.0, and it's been noted to have better A3D support as well. Pretty much a sound card that will give you none of the Creative headaches; many overclockers have this card in their rigs too. At this time I would also like the plug the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz; owned one of these as well. My all time favorite though for "regular" sound cards would have to be the Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96.

True 24 bit playback & record.

Odie..here is a very nice review of the Acoustic Edge. The driver support has developed since the review was done.

But it doesn't have EAX3 that the Audigy has and it makes a difference in games that use it like Soldier of Fortune 2 and Jedi Knight 2 there are more but these are the 2 that I own that use it.

I own Jedi Knight 2. Never had any problems with my Santa Cruz or Game Theater for EAX 3.0.

Not in my control panel for my sound card. The game does see that my card supports EAX and it does let me use the advanced option. Works just dandy without any jerkiness or anything. I actually have better game play with my current card than my Audigy Gamer.

Here ya go Odie...

Here is a better pic. of the rear of the card.

Green: is for Analog out

Black: is for Digital out

Here is a picture of the cables.

Don't quote me on this, I haven't had the Acoustic Edge since January of 2001. Hope this helps though.
