I was in the process of searching for a new laptop and was wondering if anybody knew what would be best to get. I'm not really picky just something that will work as a college computer. If anybody has any suggestions that would be great.

You just have to choose due to your needs and $$$. Don't get a older one, they don't upgrade easy, get it the way you want it.

I setup a Dell for a friend and it is very nice. Good hardware and not a horrible price.

Go to a local computer store or maintenance facility. They should have some refurbished machines there for less than $1000 - decent specs too plus you'll get a 'house warranty.' No need to spend tons of money on a machine just for college. Especially after one of the pricks in the dorm swipes it.
