You know, it's not like I make allot of money putting my life on the line every damn day for peanuts per hour. I can probably work at McDonalds and make like $1 less per hour flipping burgers and not have to worry about getting shot at, getting sued, messing a case up, saving someone's life, issuing traffic tickets, working every holiday, working odd hours, etc..etc..etc...

I worked my a$$ off all last week. Grabbed mucho overtime every chance I got.. .and for what? To pay Uncle Sam thats for what. I made over $300 in Overtime for the pay period. You know how much I saw of that?

It all went straight to takes. In fact, I took home less money then I would have if I didn't work any overtime at all. My pay was around $850.00 and then tack on the $300.00 in Overtime. I brought home $843.00! How is that possible.

Screw this, I am moving in with ~Sid~ up in Canada. Big deal, the horse smell washes out of the uniform after a few washes, so what? Nothing I can't deal with. The most dangerous arrest for a Canadian Mounty would be to arrest someone for littering. How bad is that? I dunno if I could handle the whole be-nice-to-the-French thing though....

well, we have 30 % of our wages taxed in someway or another...but we do get alot back...

What happened is the overtime pay pushed you into a higher tax bracket with a subsequently higher percentage taken from the larger gross pay amount. On the plus side, do you normally only have seven dollars taken out from your pay?

PS: I hope to God that your pay period is no longer than a week! Otherwise, I'll feel grossly overpayed for my job as a Programmer!
