My son inadvertently clicked on a file named "webcam_015.pif".... he was talking with a friend on MSN & this file appeared... he thought that this friend had sent it to him. I have found out from various sources that this is a virus. Does anyone have any information on how to get rid of it? I have Norton 2004, AVG7, AntiVir installed on his computer which is running W2K with all the latest patches. I have already run all the tests and have come up with no viruses. I noticed that his LAN connection was very active even when there was nothing going on.... I have since disabled the LAN connection.
Thanks.

Need some AdAware & SpyBot Search & Destroy...

Sounds like malware going on in the background...

AdAware -> http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910...page&tag=button
(Get updates while it installs default check box)

SpyBot -> http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Dest...tml?tag=lst-0-2
(Get updates after it's installed)

Possibly a little CWShreader as well -> http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popu...WShredder.shtml

If these dont fix it run a little HiJack this and post the log... -> http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip

Run HijackThis from a folder that is NOT the Desktop or Temp...
