I continue to have problems in searching for multiple words within the 4peeps forums. Not sure if it's me, or simply the system. Regardless, I may be the only one who has asked this question.

Well, the idea is very simple... I would like to be able to play various MP3s and videos from a desktop computer (sans monitor) connected to my HiFi home audio system that is sitting in my living.

The house that I'm in isn't mine, so I don't want to be fishing cables through the walls. Therefore a Wireless network needs to be established. I will have to purchase a decent wireless router, plus a wireless card (for the remote computer). I think that I will be able to set everything up without a problem.

But my main question is this: Aside from having a TV-out video card that will display the output of WinXP desktop (and everything else), would I be able to remotely activate programs such as WinAmp or MediaPlayer from the main computer? This way, I don't have to squint at the TV screen's 320x200 resolution when trying to fumble through the large list of MP3 or video menu?

At the moment, my remote computer is a basic P2-Celeron 466 with some 512MB of RAM, but the video card needs to be replaced that has decent TV-out capabilities. Any suggestions on what used videocard I can purchase that would handle video nicely on the screen?

I appreciate other suggestions in making this work, because my temporary solution of running three (3) 50-foot coax cables (fitted with RCA adaptors) from one room to the next, causes unbelievable amounts of background noise when the computer box is plugged into the power unit of the house (even if the computer is off, and the connection is made to the soundcard only).

Cheers,

Simpler solution, if you've got a XBoX, get it modded and you can do all of the above! The XboX media center software app is just like buying a PC w/ M$ Media Center OS installed on it. But, just a lot cheaper. icon_smile.gif
