Run dcpromo to create the new domain
Click start, choose run, type in dcpromo. This will start the wizard.
Note: Items marked with an asterisk below are NOT the default and would be used to add an existing domain to a forest.
Select "dc for a new domain"
Select "create a new domain tree"
* Select "place this domain in an existing forest"
Supply authentication credentials for the administrator account
Type the new domain name "newdomain.existingdomain.com"
Set the netbios name NEWDOMAIN
Leave the database log locations as the default
* You may receive a warning that it did not install DNS
Set permissions compatible only with win2k
Set the directory services restore password (same as administrator)
Review summary and done
Save info as c:\domain.txt if you want to review it later
Active Directory will update (takes a few minutes), then done
Reboot to implement new configuration
