Hello All,

I think this qualifies as a "Well Being" type question. I have an issue that has come up recently and need some honest input.

My brother and sister-in-law live 5 minutes from our house by car. The last time we saw them was last Christmas. We have two young boys which make them Uncle and Aunt. Our issue is that we feel their visits are way too infrequent. They feel that visiting their nephews once or twice a year is absolutely normal and we should not expect anything more. This is a big soar point with us right now and the cause of much grief in our family.

Does anyone here, who are parents themselves, have sibling who live in close proximity? If yes, how often do they visit or spend time with your children? Is one or two visits a year normal?

Please let me know your thoughts. I would really like to find out if I'm out of line or not and put this issue to rest.

I live close to Goku (Bro-in-law)....I cant seem to keep him out of my appt j/k


Really on my Wife's family visit almost every other day. She has 2 sisters and 2 brothers....(Goku is one of the sisters). I see them at least once a week atleast.

My Fam is in another state...so we see them once a year the most.

While it's sad, that they pay little attention, I don't think it's something you can change. I have a similar situation with my Brother and sisterinlaw.
As DINKs (double income, no kids) they choose to fill their time with other things, and the few days a year they choose to spend with my son and his nearby cousin are sincere, but obviously not really their thing.
Therefore I don't bother much fitting our schedule to theirs.
I guess because you chose to have kids doesn't obligate them to do anything.

We live about 20 minutes from most of my family and see them about once a week. My sister is 1 1/2 hours away and we see her about once a month. My wife's family is about 1 hour away and we see them about 1-2 times per month.

I know some people who are similar to you bro and sil and only visit with family a few times a year, but we have always been a close family so that would be very odd to me.
