There is no patch available for the problem at this point, but firmaware version 1.43 fixes the problem.

Yup that's the ticket!
I thought it odd they said "no patch" but up dating the firmware would fix it.
Isn't that a patch?

ummm...no i think of firmware as a software upgrade myself...a patch is to "fix" bad software or code

A firmware update replaces the firmware completely in a piece of hardware. A patch replaces one or more files in a piece of software (or fixes a hole in a tire or inner tube, but that's probably not what you really wanted to know. ).

But basicly you're downloading a patched version :!:
I know it's not a single fix, in this case the files so small its easier to do the whole thing.
yes , techniclly it's not a patch.
but the way the original article put sounded (to me) like they were saying there is no fix, and then said get the fix here.

I'll take the router from the giveaway , it's not like anyone will try and hack me. Just want a home LAN and to have the whole family be able to surf the internet.

updating firmware is a more complicated process than installing a patch. hence, i believe, the phrasing in the article.

Thanks! Winning the router would be nice, but I think just getting introduced to these forums was the real prize. There's lots of good information in here.
