I have something that utilizes this:
QUOTE
AUDiO : 448kbps dd 5.1 ac3
It's a DiVX movie, so I tried playing it in the DiVx player, works fine, except no sound.
So I fired up Windows Media Player, that plays the movie as well, but again, no sound.
It tried to download a codec when the movie started to play but it just said "Error downloading Codec".
Where can I get this codec?

Thank you sweetness. *smooch*
That RAR file also installs the video codec. I already have the DivX 5.1 codec. Will it not overwrite it with this 3.11 Alpha codec?
Is there a way to try and install just the audio codec?

5.1 and 3.11 are different divx codecs. they won't overwrite each other

I agree, find a clip using the same codec, that is known to work, and try it. when you'll know if it's a hardware/ software error, or just a problem with that clip.

If its just this film then I have to agree that it was ripped wrong.

May I recommend the Nimo Codec Pack.
all video and sound codecs you'll need.

Both download mirrors come up with a 404 not found.
And I think I installed this thing once before and it installed a whole slew of crap on my machine. All sorts of funky taskbar icons would pop up when I played a video file.....

one of those codecs turns ur pictures or movies upside down in (wmp) SO read the "read-me" before u install all of those......though in ur case u might like that.

Well, When I use to download my Dragon Ball Z episodes some required a certain DIVX to play, it was an older DIVX, that movie might of been riped to work with an older 1?

divx 3 , 4 and 5 are different codecs. they can all be installed at the same time. no need to uninstall for example divx 3.11 in order to install 4.* or 5.*. in fact, most movies encoded using divx 3.11 won't be played by the later versions. not backwards compatible in other words
so, install all versions.

What are the advantages of the full nimo pack as verus the lite stickey?
Is the lite good enough in most cases.
To tell the truth Im not real sure how the codecs work in the first place?

basically, the full package includes a lot of applications for encoding and/or ripping. the lite package only contains decoders. IIRC.
if you dont intend to rip DVDs, there's no need for the full package

the codecs are either encoders or decoders. for playback of encoded files, you need the correct decoder. and the other way around for ripping.
how's that for an explanation?
Full Nimo = BAD!
I had installed that once by accident. All sorts of screw stuff happened.
I had the same bad feeling about installing this one, after installing the full one but, I trust my man in Sweden.

??? My Codec only makes the pictures funny if you turn it sideways. I like Codec film better than Fugee, too.
