If you are using a wireless adapter to get to the internet, then it is most likely Windows' Wireless Zero Configuration Service causing the problem.

I had a D-Link Wireless adapter and my system was doing what yours is now. I disabled the Wireless Zero Configuration Service and then I installed D-Link's software for my particular D-Link wireless adapter and the problem went away. From then on, my network and internet connections were strong and solid.

If this is not your case, then--barring virus' or some SpyWare installed Layered Service Provider intervening (which can be fixed with LSPFix found here: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm) then I couldn't hazard a guess without knowing more details about your system.

What Operating System?
What Motherboard?
What Network Interface Card (NIC)
etc..

Thanks

besides the virus scan, and uninstalling/reinstalling ALL the network software/drivers
you should remove and reseat the NIC, and run any diagnostics that SMC provides to be sure it's not a hardware problem (NIC's are cheap, replacing it is a possible solution)
The other question is who is your ISP, and what type of connection (cable /DSL/FIBER/dialup/satellite/wi-fi) do you have?

i use adsl from telus and um how do u reset NIC or run a diagnostics on the device it self??

The SMC support page has diagnostic tools (under downloads) and info.

To rebuild the network stack (software) go to control panel and delete all network connections, then reinstall them as described here

Obviously it's best to be sure to check and remember (write down!) any settings and gather any info, discs, drivers BEFORE you start this process.
You also didn't say if you have a router, and or the modem brand/model#.
there are a number of other things that can cause DSL disconnects (most under the control of the phone company and your ISP), so dialing up tech support wouldn't hurt either.

ive tryed foning for dial support and usually it fixes it for awhile but then after few months it starts going on and off again

brand - ADSL Ethernet Modem

Well, whatever they told you to do before.........do it again.
Was that SMC or your ISP tech support you called?
I'm curious as to where the problem was the last time
sillyjavie
well actually i phoned my internet provider (telus) haha

so maybe it was something at their end?
sillyjavie
ya thats what i thot but then it doesnt happen to any of my oter friends that use telus and it happened quite alot of times already and they usually fix it for few months then it comes back

im just trying to see how to use LSPFix and what to remove coz im not sure what to remove what to keep

i have a screen shot on my previous posts a pic of LSPFix and what it found

It really does sound like their problem. If they can fix it for a month or so, then that really does look like it's them and not you.

Does it seem like when it rains that your connection gets all buggered up?
sillyjavie
nope its really unpredictable.. it can happen at anytime lol but for now its pretty stable i guess hahaha
sillyjavie
k before it was stable like i said above but now im getting random internet connection failures lol no actual time it goes off this time but now it goes off once in a while and its really getting on my nerves lol can anyone help me fix this problem?
