God has called to his service his newest little angel, Kevin Suberg.
Kevin goes with God after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Kevin began his journey on earth August 4, 1994 in San Angelo, Texas.
Kevin’s memory will live on with his parents, Richard and Dorothy, grandparents Bill and Bonnie Suberg as well as many aunts and uncles and cousins and dear family friends. He leaves behind an extended family within San Antonio’s Dancing Duets and The San Antonio Speedway Racing Family.
His family wishes to thank Dr. and Mrs. Lazarus and all the office staff, John and Norma Jean, Hospice and all his special chemo angels and his special friends from all over who have made his experience with us that much more special.
He has touched many lives and has had his life touched by many in his short time that God had lent him to us.
Kevin will live on forever in our hearts and in our memories.
“to be absent is to be present with the Lord” 1 Corinthians 58
A LOAN
I’ll lend you for a little time,
A child of mine, he said
For you to love all while he lives,
And mourn for when he’s gone.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care of him for me?
He will use his charms to gladden
You.
And shall his stay be brief;
You’ll have his lovely memories,
As a solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return;
But there are lessons taught
Down there,
I want this child to learn.
I’ve selected you.
I’ve looked the wide world over,
In my search for teachers true;
And from the throngs that crowd
Life’s lanes,
I’ve selected you.
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labor vain;
Nor hate me when I come to call,
To take him back again?
I fancied that I heard you say,
“Dear Lord, thy will be done”
For all the joy thy child shall
Bring,
The risk of of grief we’ll run.
“We’ll shelter him with tenderness,
We’ll love him while we may;
And for the happiness we’ve known,
Forever grateful stay.”

Kevin touched the lives of many people in a hugely positive way, including my own family, who enjoyed the time we were able to spend with him when he visited his extended family in San Angelo. We had tons of fun playing with Legos while watching the race on TV, going to Mr. Gatti's Pizza, and taking a ride in the Jeep out to Sonic for ice cream. I'll always cherish the memories of the time Kevin spent with us.
I don't have a kid of my own, and probably never will. But if I were so fortunate, I would want them to be just like Kevin. He was truly an inspiration, faced with a terminal disease, yet maintaining a positive outlook on everything and enjoying life to the fullest. I'm not so certain I would be as brave or mature if placed into a similar situation. He was an awesome little man, taken away from us much too early.
Rest In Peace, Kevin.

I can't really put it any better than that. I've been amazed by Kevin and all of you through this whole thing, and can only hope you find a way to find peace. The world is a brighter place for having had Kevin in it.

My condolences to the family and friends of this truly inspirational young man. He fought hard and well. Be in peace with your Lord, Kevin. You were a great role model to those many years older than yourself.
Also, thank you Ron for sharing such a great young man and his struggles with the rest of us. It took courage and compassion to do so. I am truly saddened to hear he has left us.

What a wonderful poem Ace. I just wish that God had a law that stated that the parents had to see their children to adulthood and get to know their child's children, then pass on first.
A parent should never have to bury their child IMHO, but I do not make the rules to this life.
May he rest in peace and be with God, happy forever.
