I got a PS2 from a friend to see if I could fix it...it won't power on...does anyone have any ideas on why?
I'll tincker around with it but if anyone can lend a hand I will greatly thank them.
I'm not the smartest when it comes to fixing things so the more help the better....thanks

well, if you can take it apart, you could use a Volt-Ohm meter to see if the switch works. Just make sure you dont have it plugged in. A simple resistance test of the switch to see it go to 0 (zero) or close to it when the switch is closed.
The schematics would help, as would a layout of the board inside.
The power supply itself might be toast as well.
