Recent news accounts of injuries and deaths do indicated we live in a dangerous world, in the air, in the sea, and on land. Many work and play in unsafe and dangerous environments that need some form of body protection. Light weight body armour is available for those that fly, drive race cars, work in underwater construction, or find themselves in all sorts of situations-civilian and military. Some of these vests can be enhanced with steel inserts for maximum effect if needed.

The United States Seals have used vests with there gear for sometime, and the newer generations of lightweight body armour has improved there mobility .There are many sharp objects in the water, reefs of coral, all sorts of abandoned wreckage, and of course some natural predators that bite or barb. The light weight body armour is now becoming affordable for many in dangerous work situations, and will provide protection with out looking like a knight in a steel suit!
