Full Version: Wireless Network Reboots Computer

Demon
In the new house there was no way to conveniently run Cat5 cable to HK's desk for network access so she's back on wireless. The connection here is head, shoulders, chest, ab and crotch above what we had in the old house. Constant connection and speed pushing the 54Mb of 802.11g. The only problem we have is when I come home and log in using my wireless laptop, her PC reboots. It happens every time.

Any ideas?

What model router?
what Adaptors do you use?
Does either computer have a static address?
If your lappy is connected, does turning on her computer bump you?
What security and/or encryption services, firewalls, etc. are you running?
Are there other WLAN's detectable in the area? (ie could you safely turn off encryption/etc temporarily for troubleshooting?)
Is this just another reason for HK not to let you come home? hysterical.gif

Try changing the channel on the wireless router.

The router is a Westell Model D90-327W15-06.

The laptop has an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG adapter and HK's desktop has a PCI Netgear adapter.

Changed the channel to 11 from 6. Just restarted the laptop and haven't heard the Windoze song from HK's machine.

Nope...still rebooting HK's machine.
