I installed XP and such on my wife's computer...her HDD died.

I used the wrong HD and want to drop in another without going through all the crap again (already did setting and windows update). What is the easiest way? Can I hook the newish HD up and copy everything over?

Yes. I recommend using the disk manufacturer's drive copy utility. I know Maxtor, Western Digital and Seagate all have drive copy utilities to copy the old drive to the new drive. You can download them for free. Use the one for the drive you are copying to (it doesn't care who makes the source drive).

Hey bully... you COULD also try Ghost or Acronis to make a duplicate of your HDD to install...

I did the Seagate transfer program and it worked like a charm. thumbup1.gif
