I'm looking for a free, or really cheap and simple proxy software for a G3 Mac running OS 8.6. for home network internet sharing.
This is to allow a ibook (running os 9,21 or osX) to access/share an AOL dialup connection.
Of course Apple is not very forthcoming with free info (Happy to sell a $35+ tech support call, to say they could sell a $350 app which might work! )

Does AOL have a Mac version of their client software?

Yes. In fact, AOL was Mac only during their early years.
setup shows "Home network" (allows broadband sharing, all 7 screennames online at once, only works with DSL or Cable) In this case I want to proxy the laptop (which would signon using IE)through the AOL dialup account. (AOL does not offically support this)
It would be occasional use to update files from the office (laptop goes there 5-6 times a week)
This techinque works with all versions of AOL for windows (I have set it up using AnalogX proxy (free)http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/n...twork/proxy.htm on other windows systems, and the laptop can attach to a windows network using Proxy normaly, I'm just looking from something similar for the Mac desktop.
