I decided to reinstall vista because it looks so much better than XP, and I found myself not playing games as much. Unfortunately I get kind of a trade-off. I install the Video card drivers from dell (something like 67.42) and I lose Aero Glass, but I gain the ability to overclock. I install the laptop vista drivers (something like 97.81) I gain Aero glass but my video card is left gimped (100MHz core/ 199MHz memory, thats about half the stock speeds) and can't overclock.
I've tried ATi Tools, nVtweak, Coolbits, nTune, rivatuner 2.01, nv Hard Page, etc. and none of them can seem to even read the stock clock speeds. They all read 0MHz, dont start at all, or just give me some whacko number, say 78 trillion MHz for core. With the dell drivers, overclocking is as easy as installing coolbits. I cant overclock using BIOS editors, because I cant read OR flash the BIOS.
Anybody know of any ways to overclock in Windows Vista?
