It's bad enough that Apple decided that it wouldn't license its designs Mac-clone makers a few years ago. Now they've gone and pissed off the folks that resell their hardware!

Apple is on a collision course with chapter 11 icon_biggrin.gif

That is not a surprise... it happens with all big companies eventually.. they get too greedy, then they let their dealers go bust by not giving them the proper support they need...

IE: Telus does the exact same thing with it's corporate stores, and it's independant dealers... I'm not going any further than that, because well, I'd be ranting...

Apple has a long history of similar behavior. both at the retail level, and technology partners (orange computing was one, as well as others, long gone now) get them to start building/selling systems and components and then refuse to renew the licenses when the become to price competive. "sorry, your out of business" (mostly without the sorry)
When you look at their business model (high cost, high "value"*, proprietary hardware, O/S, and most software )and their jumping back and forth from "we love open source" to "as long as we control it" It amazes me
a} that they're still in business
b} that anybody trusts they as a "partner
c}that anybody trusts them as a supplier
d}that the DOJ hasn't gone after them
e} ALL OF THE ABOVE :!: :!: :!:

Lucky I didn't get a Telus Cell Phone then icon_eek.gif maybe they are going bust icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway, if apple was to port their shit to the PC, I bet they would have no problem surviving in the tech industry... like their OS is apparently really good.. from what i understand more damn stable than any windows version.

Go PC and you sure to survive. Lower prices for upgrades, higher volume of sales... we're all happy... icon_biggrin.gif

We wouldn't all be happy until the good games were developed for the Mac OS on the x86 platform.

This kinda shit is common for a buisness like Apples.
MadCow

So there hardware might die...

One can be killed with out the other dieing...

if they do release a X86 version of OSX my computer will definately be booting into that. it might be an odd spectial if all hardcore gamers/enthusiests moved to OSX. M$ is getting much too invasive if u ask me...and learning linux might not be an option

OS 10, Jaguar especially is a fast, effective and productive operating system that rides in style with Quartz; if apple were to port to x86 (which I consistantly hear reports that apple is always compiling new x86 builds of OS 10) I think they'd finally come out of the slums.

With their current pricing scheme, nobody in the right mind would pay 3500$ for a dual processor machine, running at 1.5Ghz... and some Geforce4 card (they don't say which one).
