Good day all. I got a Chinese MP4 player second hand, without any kind of supporting documentation. When I scroll through to "About", it gives me no usable information. Under "Ver:" it states 00.00.0048; under "Date:" it states 2006-11-22. That's it. When I sync with my PC using Windows MediaPlayer, it it identifies the device as "Rockchip" (I assume that's the chipset). The only other info I can provide is that it has 1 gig of memory with room for a mini SD card, and that it uses the smaller (2.5 mm?) earphone plug. It has a 2" screen.

Here's my dilemma: I can't find a video format it will run. Windows MediaPlayer will not let me sync MTV or AMV files, and when I have just copied them onto the MP4 player it does not even recognize either (I have tried them both). It also does not recognize the .avi files I have tried to play, although Windows MediaPlayer does let me sync them.

I have formated the flash memory but that doesn't help.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks!!

do you have any picts of the packaging and or a pict of the player...?

It might require a special program to put videos on it. I have a Sandisk player that plays videos but it ignores the ones I copy to it directly via USB. They have a program that places them on to the device and those work. Your player might work the same way but without any doc on it there is no way to know how it works.

Most Chinese Mp4 players support the SMV format which can be encoded with the bundled software.
