I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota Quadcab with a 4.7L v8. The other day I noticed that the horn stopped working. I checked the relay and the fuses and all are good. Then I noticed that the Airbag light came on and will not go out. Next, the cruise control stopped working. All fuses are good and everything else is in working order.

U sure you checked all the fuses? There is more then one fuse box. You have them in the normal location (engine compartment) and also in the driver's side door panel, near the main dashboard.

I had a 00 Dakota. I had a bulb short and it took out a bunch of electrical systems. I believe my tail light was out and it knocked out the horn and the dashlights. Just another thing to look for as well.

Sounds like the main electrical connector for the steering column is coming loose. Disconnect your battery, wait at least 10 minutes (for the caps in the airbag system to fully discharge), and get under there and check things out. Pull the connector(s) loose, blow them out with some compressed air, inspect them to see if there's some weird carbon build-up or corrosion, and plug it all back in. Reconnect your battery, and see what's up from there.

Another great source for information regarding your truck can be found HERE

Hope that helps.

Thanks Eric, great site. I have been directed to the clockspring at another forum. It was recalled in 2000 Dakota and the 2001 Ram for the exact symptoms.

I am gonna check the connections first, love to find an easy fix.

Thanks. thumbup1.gif
