I owned a cheap no-name mp3 player. I didn't like the fact that when I turned it on, it would start at the begining of whatever I'd last been listening to. When listening to an audiobook or an old time radio show, this was a bother. I wanted (and want) a player that would start exactly where I last left off. I bought an Ipod which does start where I last left off, but I am not crazy about having to use Itunes only. I am looking for a mp3 player that will work as a separate drive, where I can dowload to it from any computer without having to "sync" it like my Ipod requires, and that won't require that the files be converted to a proprioatory extension like Itunes does. Please let me know any suggestions you may have.

Check out the Sandisk Sansa - only $110 for 4GB and it has a slot for a MicroSD card to add another 2GB.
