Coz
Well I went ahead and ordered the fastest/newest CPU my mobo can handle and new sticks of memory (1gbX2) and had the foresight to go ahead and benchmark the old stuff before I put in the new stuff. The benchmarks were obtained by using Everest Pro and a clean re-boot with the same exact stuff (services, programs running) so it is 100% accurate.

Here are the results:

CPU Julia Benchmark:

Old Cpu:

New Cpu:

CPU PhotoWorxx Benchmark:

Old Cpu:

New Cpu:

CPU Queen Benchmark:

Old Cpu:

New Cpu:

Memory Copy Benchmark:

Old Memory: CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)

New Memory: G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200)

Memory Read Benchmark:

Old Memory:

New Memory:

Memory Latency Benchmark:

Old Memory:

New Memory:

Memory Write Benchmark:

Old Memory:

New Memory:

So there you have it. This is the first time I have seen the results my self. Very upset with the Memory being slower though. The CPU was definetly a big difference.

Figured I would share it all with you. icon_smile.gif Because I am that type of a nice guy! LoL

PS: No idea how to remove the 'shrinkage' of the images Bull. The images are hard to see.....*ahem*

What OS you running on this?
Coz
WinXP of course. No crappy Vista here my friend... stay away....stay far far away! icon_smile.gif

LOL, Indeed man winkiss.gif
Coz
Do you guys think that the memory speed is slower then the original memory because it was only trying to 'benchmark' 1GB (smaller) and now it is benchmarking the speed of 2GB (bigger)? Is that possible?

that was my idea because of bandwith , we CAN stop that for a while and watch what happens with the bandwith.
bull
That is just how IPB handles the images. All you have to do is click on the to see the full size. icon_wink.gif
Coz
I just tried to make it look all nice putting the benchmark results side-by-side but it is hard to see them side-by-side now. You have to click on the images in order to actually 'read' them. I am not bitching, just tried to make it all nicey-nice and it, of course, didn't work...because of my luck you know!? icon_smile.gif

How small do the images have to be in order to get away from the shrinkage? Or does it shrink the images no matter what size they are?
bull
Bitch and moan...LOL

I turned auto resizing off. It is fine for smaller images, but looks like crap for the huge ones. winkiss.gif
Coz
Thanks Bull. Now you can actually see how bad my new memory performs compared to the old memory. Once again, I got screwed!!! LOL

Maybe it was better when you couldn't see how bad the new memory is... can you turn the shrinkage of images back on? ROFL!!!

Coz
The old 2x512mb of Memory I took out of the system, can I put it back into the mobo? It's the same PC3200. I can't remember if it has to be 'matched' or not anymore like it used to be??
the_burner
Always helps/is better if it is matched, Coz. But they don't have to. icon_wink.gif

So no detremental effects you think by doing that?

Given the choice I woulda ALWAYS run matching name brand high end ram. Always. However, if you just want to get by and leave your ram at default settings you "can" get away with it in some cases. I ran Infineon and Amzor in the same case but when the Amzor crapped out (1/3 the age of the Infineon) I replaced it with a matching (to the first Infineon) ram module. Then I jacked the ram timing back up on the BIOS settings. icon_biggrin.gif
Coz
I will put the other GIG back in and see what happens. I don't tinker in the BIOS at all w/ O/C stuff; partly because of my bad luck and partly because I don't know what I am doing in there too well. icon_smile.gif

You do what you can handle and makes/keeps you comfortable. Don't let anyone talk you into some silly shit. You're smart, you know what you can and can't do. icon_smile.gif
BigO
I always seem to get screwed in the mem department, even when I buy the good suff I get elcrapo bench marks in mem
