I would rate them just as you have them. 9800 being the best. Of courge assuming they all are AGP.

Yup, that'd be the best way to order them. The Ati 9800Pro would be the best card over here.

Actually it would go like this (if you mean order of performance):
Radeon 9800 (Radeon HD 2900XTX)
GeForce 4 Ti 4200 (GeForce 7900GT)
GeForce FX 5200 (GeForce 8500GT)
My dad had a pair of prototype Ti 4200 cards and they pretty much told my FX 5200 to bend over and take it.
Only thing the FX has over the 4200 is DX9b support. The brackets are how it would be in todays perspective.
the 8500 is equivalent to the 6600GT in terms of performance. Note in the comparison I used the 7900GT instead of say a 8800
This is because the 8500 can do DX10 (pretty up-to-date), as well as the HD2900 (which is DX9.0b for the listed cards), whereas
the 7900 is DX9.0c, capable of playing the latest games, but not as pretty (like the GeForce 4 Ti4200 and it being DX8)
The reason I said 7900GT (GT part is what I'm explaining here), is because it wasn't the best of its time, close, but not quite, there was also the GTX and GX2 (but thats not really a fair comparison),
similar to how the 4200 is second best of its time, with the 4600 leading it.

Yup, the 7900GT and 7950GT OC have way better performance than the 8500GT and even 8600GT.
