So I went into Radioshack tonight to purchase another HDMI cable (bought an upconverting DVD player) and I purchased the Radioshack "Gold Series" HDMI cable for $60.00.

I went up to the counter and the salesman just kind of snickered at me. I asked him what was so funny and he said that the Radio Shack cable is garbage. He told me to purchase the Monster HDMI cable because there is a difference. I replied; "Yea, about $60.00 more of a difference". The salesman said that the Radio Shack HDMI cable gives no better output then component video cables and that the Monster cable is way better.

So, my question is: was the salesman just trying to 'upsell' me on the Monster Cable? Is there really that much difference between the monster cable and the radio shack cable or is a cable just a cable?

Its not like I bought the "budget brand" HDMI cable... I bought the 'top of the line' Radio Shack one. Ya know?

Simply put.. he's trying to upsell you to something you don't need... I currently on my system have a $26 HDMI cable that the salesperson I bought from says will make no difference in picture quality at all. For some other info I did a quick websearch, and found the following results...

I suggest this web site to get cables and adapters:

link to www.monoprice.com

They seem to have every type of cable or adapter on the planet and the prices are reasonable.
