Sorry I haven't been around for a few days now, I've had some major system problems. My mobo died on Tuesday, fried everything with a beta bios flash and not even the dual bios on my gigabyte ga7-zxr could bail me out this time. Totaly hosed, maybe I can get it running again once I get my new board. I orderd an Asus AV7133-C, it's a KT133A chipset based board that was a nice inexpensive fix for the time being(since I don't want to have to buy new ram yet either). Anyhow, thats the story there. I've peiced together a temporoary system at home but I have no modem drivers for it yet so I can't use the internet. <--suck.

I should be back online with my new machine sometime next week, but man making it by is though. In fact, it sucks icon_cry.gif

Hey hey... Couple things with the KT133A chipset, if you have a soundblaster live! or audigy soundcard and a big HDD don't forget to update to to the latest 4 in 1's and get the PCI latency patch.

This will solve alot of aggrevation and corrupt data.

Good Luck!

amen to the latency patch things...

BigO, many reports around the web this week about the problems Nforce chips are having.
I wouldn't be to quick to jump on that boat

There are some problems but it's about like everything else. Nothing's perfect. I've had a total of 8 nForce2 boards here in the last couple of months and have only had a problem with one of them.

Well, im back online now, sorta. I can't get my Asus to boot because I don't think my power supply has enough juice to keep the backup, +5VSB, running right. My current one only puts out 0.8A and I don't think that is enough to get it running. The Asus book even says to have a good powersupply or else you will end up with a system that fails to turn on, eg mine icon_cry.gif So, im limping along on my giga-byte board trying to get a decent, but not insanly expensive, power supply. 300-350W sounds nice at this point. Know any good dealers?

Addition:

I just ordered a RaidMax 350W Power Supply from the same people I always get my stuff from. I should be ok now, just wait till friday till it comes:)

You would want an Enermax or the Power-whatever that Mandark spouts about. Anything else is uncivilized when it comes to power supplies.

Thursday I can finaly get everything running the way it should be, so my Powered By ASUS sticker on my case can be true :P

Why would you buy a board that is getting old? Yes, I had the board, and it was good to me. But you can do better. Upgrade ram and get a ddr board.

hehe.. kt133a boards are fun and cheap and so is the ram icon_wink.gif
*hugs his kt133A board*

Because my girlfriend costs more and I get a lot more pleasure from her than I ever will from a motherboard and ram, if you know what I mean icon_twisted.gif

It's all about whatever makes you happy! To that end, I'm glad for you (and your girlfriend) nfinitefx! icon_biggrin.gif

HEhehe!
Thanks man.
I got my Asus up and running. Damn I never realized just how hot Thunderbirds run. right now using Vcool, i'm at 42C, I tried booting at 1120MHz like I did on my giga-byte, no go the temp shot up to a system halting 67C. So I bumped the bus and dropped the multiplier, now running 270MHZ(DDR FSB) and 1013MHz CPU. just dropped down to 40C too. I think my giga-byte was misreporting, my cpu temp is a lot higher than I figured. it runs at about 50C under load.
