so, i bought a cheap "compilation disk of Boggle, hangman and some other hasbro games and installed it onto my Mom's computer but when you start it up you get a black screen with a cursor on it that moves very sporadically and seems to uncover portions of what you are supposed to see on the game main menu.
has anyone sucessfully resolved this type of issue before?
I tried making sure the correct and up to date version of dx9 was on board, the rig has integrated intel 845 graphics which seem to have the current drivers. I juts can't figure out why this won't work.
the rig is a HP pavillion a110n 3.06Ghz celeron 512 DDR PC 2700 Ram with integrated intel845 graphics. (hey it was FREE)

Dan, dip into your My Computer, Properties, Device manager, system properties. Look for any conflicts in there. Also, right click on your task bar and check out what's starting. I'm pretty sure it is a video/memory conflict. With the ATI cards it is the ATIxx.exe bullshit. I always disable that from starting with msconfig. Good luck.

Try adjusting the color depth to 16bit (high color).

My point SC is that is has to have drivers and with drivers there are potentially memory conflicts. Check the HP website for discovered issues.
