Do you believe or have you felt the effects of global warming? Do you think that pollulants have created this situation or it is blown out of proportion by hysterical "greenies?"
AceHigh
Not every scientist is part of Al Gore's mythical "consensus." Scientists worried about a new ice age seek funding to better observe something bigger than your SUV — the sun.

lol, do know where the edge is at, and that a big turtle is somewhere! icon_smile.gif

Al Gore is a nutjob.

Started to work on my back yard-did a tent for coolness, but still the change in climate is awful-put up the animals in the back of the tent. Ms off to store in her new camel powered hybrid unit, 1cp power -does seed into methane. Global warming can be difficult-but the date trees are neat!

A friend of mine in Utah complained about the 2 feet of 'global warming' he had to shovel out of his driveway so he could get to work the other morning.

While I agree that having a better awareness and taking measures to reduce our impact is a good thing - Gore and his cronies have blown it all out of proportion and someone's found a way to get rich of it. Who exactly does one pay money to in effort to reduce their global footprint, anyway? Any why are they so stupid to believe that it's actually doing anything? Just because you pay someone money to ease your own conscience, doesn't mean your pollution is any cleaner or less damaging to the environment.

One major volcanic eruption (like St. Helens, Pintaubo, etc.) puts just as much crud in the atmosphere as the entire planet does in a year's time. And the sun has a greater influence on our temperatures than the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere as well.

It's a racket.

More of the scientists are also jumping on the bandwagon that the solar cycles are indicating an upcoming mini-ice-age, based on 11-year cycle activity. Seems that based on trends, we're having a cycle of relatively low solar activity... indicating the probability of the same thing that happened during medieval times.

I say, 'Bring it' and shut up the 'experts' already. Besides - I have a whole closet full of winter clothes I can't wear because it's too freaken hot in Texas most of time.

In terms of volcano control-eruptions; being struck by large meteorites, and such, or the trees, and plants emitting large amounts of gas-along with animal life and such, the article below is most revealing with respect to this issue of global warming and world cooperation-more interested in some of the responses. That is, why or why not countries act together, or not for their best interests-perceived or not?

The Kyoto protocol can never be achieved unless you put the entire world back to the 1700s.

Ace, perhaps, more like after the American Revolution when we had some sort of a Navy, and we could defend ourselves and our interests better. What concerns me are the deals that are cut between countries, for example, those that are now into new the industrialization mode of production, and those not. It certainly would be nice to have a balance in things like toxic waste dumping-in the air. land. or sea. No doubt that at one time in the past, the Mediterranean was like playing Russian roulette with an "Automatic" eating their sea food-a winner each time. The water was so bad in that area of the world, (not unlike the East river in New York) one would be hailed a holy man for walking over it! The record for climate change does not go back enough in time to say definitively that this is global warming currently-but, one can measure the content of the air, land, and sea for toxic residue from waste products that are continually being released, and that are unhealthy-which is an issue we actually have been dealing with in this country in terms of improvement for several decades now.. Other countries, not the case. The Kyoto accord does have many good points, although needs more work, cooperation, and fairness for all.

I was just out chipping some of the globally warm ice from my deck.

Clearly, global warmth is not spread out evenly! help.gif yes.gif

The Kyoto Protocol was also based on 'old data.' Carbon-emission data dating between 1800 and 2000 is irrelevant in today's standards. Especially with China turning into the next California. The reason the US didn't agree to the terms is because they're ridiculously unachievable without our economy suffering greatly. Geez - it even took Russia and Japan (the founders?) almost 4 years before they even signed off on it.

And China is only on a 'wait and see' status... meaning they're not legally bound to anything aside from saying they took air samples and reporting their findings.

Yeah - I'm glad we didn't get in on that one... we'd still be the bad guys (so what's new) for not meeting the minimum requirements in the treaty while our economy tanks even worse than it is now - and all the while China's polluting almost as much as everybody else combined, but "They're doing their part," so no worries.

Funk that.
