HOLLYWOOD icon Jane Fonda dropped the c-bomb live on US television today, forcing a major network to apologise to its viewers.
During an interview on NBC’s high-rating Today show, the workout queen exercised her vocabulary by using the c-word while chatting about the play The Vagina Monologues.

“I live in Georgia, and I was asked to do a monologue called C*** and I said, ‘I don’t think so, I’ve got enough problems',” Fonda said in a live broadcast just hours ago.

Today host Meredith Vieira laughed nervously following the faux-pas and quickly moved on with her questions.

No mention was made until well after the interview had finished, when Vieira apologised to any viewers offended by Fonda's choice of language.

“In our last half hour we were talking about the Vagina Monologues and Jane Fonda inadvertently said a word from the play that you don’t say on television,” Vieira said.

“It was a slip and obviously she apologises and so do we – we would do nothing to offend the audience, so please accept that apology.

“And we come (back), we’re going to be talking about the secrets to making your love last.”

The live broadcast was watched by viewers on the east coast of the US, while a censored version of the interview was shown elsewhere.

It's bad enough when guys say it in public but when women do....jeez louise. Poor taste all around. Discretion is the better part of valour, right? <Funny as hell though.> The irony is I'm sure that she was called "that" about her lefty tendencies and going over and consorting with the enemy. cocky.gif

I'm thinking along those very same lines when I say, "Takes one to know one."

LOL with Eric.

I believe in the right of free speech, however, given the leanings/delusions of some of these "Hollyweird" extreme left of centre celebs, I'm not sure that they are any different from the assholes on the far right; to wit: both are obnoxious and repellent in their opinions, attitudes and actions.

The far lefties with "the gov't/big business/America is a bully" must be wrong. That's gratitude for ya. They criticize the system that made them (in a lot of cases) possible multi-millionaires. (Funny, I don't see any of these folks giving the money back to the great unwashed masses whom they claim to support with vigor.)

And the loons on the right that think that big business (some, definitely not all of them) is a right/given privielge to financially and morally rape the consumers that buy their products. Funny how that works. Gratitude once again is shown to be the least lasting and most quickly forgotten human emotion. icon_cry.gif

How about a balanced approach, with a vigorous degree of scepticism for both/any extremist point of view that dictates that certain issues are either all black or all white with ABSOLUTELY no potential/possibility of any gray inbetween. Folks like that really scare me with their "all or nothing" perception of reality. It shows me a "keyhole" perception of reality which is truly frightening. Opening the door for them unfortunately would do no good as the "minds/attitudes/perceptions" are almost always made up, set in stone.

Jane Fonda is not a favorite of the troops that were in Vietnam when she sat behind an enemy antiaircraft gun for photo taking. Personally, did not find this despicable behavior of hers to be cute, nor the displacement of some hormonal imbalance attributed to youthful passage into adulthood. Indeed, she should have made the slam for a few upon her return to the United States for giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Her actions, indeed was quite appropriate for enemy propaganda of those trying times of war. She made a lot of bucks in this country, many women and men love her today, and IMHO, she is still a consistent and dead-beat lefty loser.

pappy, very difficult to understand people and there motivations-Jane Fonda is indeed a strange, and negative product of our society-maybe not enough milk as a child? In any case, will not lose much sleep thinking about her.

True. But oh so fitting that it was her and her demonstration of poor judgement in using it on public TV. Not everybody 'gets' the significance of it - and that's fine. Just like not everybody remembers seemingly arbitrary things from the past... such as The Cold War, the Oil Embargo in the '70s, the world before Muslim terrorists, et al.

Doesn't mean we're uptight.

Besides - the 'C' word has been elevated to the point where it's only slightly more offending than the 'N' word... and notice how only certain people can get away with using it - which not surprisingly puts white males into the 'most offensive when used' category... as usual. icon_rolleyes.gif
