Abit just came out with a new bios for these boards 2 days ago with a max FSB of 250. Check out this guys bench

I'm topped out, you got any more FSB Alex icon_mrgreen.gif

Only some of the multipliers work at 250, the 11 turns into a 5 at 250 icon_mrgreen.gif

Dammit!!! I wish I could figure out how he does it. I'm pretty sure it's with a Prometia and insane volt mods.

He said he's using Kingston HyperX 3500 2x256 sticks. It's about $80 compared to around $110 for Corsair XMS3500. headbang2.gif

10X250 is actually no different to 12.5 x200, except for the bandwidth. That can be acheived on air. Does he actually mention stability? Heres a pic from another XP2100 on an 8RDA+ stable. His name is codered and in his own words "the 8RDA+ is using alot of mods". 2.2 vcore on a prometia icon_biggrin.gif 1200MHz overclock icon_cool.gif

ntruax
I know it's basically the same. :P

icon_eek.gif He doesn't mention stablilty (at least not in that thread).

Very nice OC on that 2100. icon_biggrin.gif

I guess I'll be stuck where I'm at for a while cause I'm not into modding boards. If I had more overclocking knowledge I'd probably be into it but I'm still learning. icon_twisted.gif

It is good to see that the nfs7 can go up to 250 but i think it is also a beta bios. not the best thing to screw with IMHO
ntruax
Yeah, it is beta. I installed it yesterday because it gives better increments for fsb instead of making huge jumps but it hasn't helped me get any higher. I have a probem with my video card or something cause when I tried 10x220 last night the POS freaked out. My screen went black and the monitor reported no signal icon_confused.gif It was my understanding that the AGP lock would alleviate things like that. Guess I was wrong.
ldonyo
How many milliseconds do you think it would take to fry a processor if the cooling suddenly quit at a FSB of 251MHz?
ntruax
I give up. icon_lol.gif

Definatly whoops the snot outta my stuff:/

No, you are right. it wasn't the vid card crapping out. it was because the sysytem couldn't boot at the settings you fed to it that it failed to post. Most likely theram timings or something similar stopped it.
ntruax
I was able to boot. But shortly after getting in the video took a sh*t.
fxr91
Nope, something else is causing the problem, as i said, most likely the ram. Either that or the beta bios is suss or your agp is set too high in the bios icon_smile.gif

Can you lock the PCI bus at 33MHz? Also, have you tried upping the voltage to the AGP slot, just in case it needs more power to keep up, or did you lock it at 66MHz? I would tend to agree with fxr91's line of thinking and suggest loosening the RAM timings a bit to see if that keeps you from crapping out at that bus speed.
ntruax
The PCI bus supposedly is locked at 33 and there's no adjustment for it. I've tried raising the voltage to the card but I didn't notice any difference (plus this is the card that I think is about to die). The AGP is locked by default at 66 with adjustments up to 99 (I've never tried raising it cause I'm not looking for better video performance). As soon as I decide what to get for sure I plan on ordering another card so I'll feel better about playing with the AGP voltage. I just don't want this one to die before I have a replacement.

I'm running the ram at 7-2-2 Cas2 and haven't tried lowering the timings. Maybe I'll give it another shot with relaxed timings later tonight and see what it does. I could have swore I saw a review by Rodney Reynolds (3DGameman) where he was running this ram at 450MHz but it was probably one stick, and it could have been asynch (it's been a couple months since I saw it).
ldonyo
I wouldn't be surprised if he was running asynchronously at that speed! You could try just dropping the CAS to 2.5 and see if that clears up your video issue, before you go and tweak the other settings.

I had problems with my DIMMS when I was getting my Asus board up and going. Kingston PC-100 ram couldn't take the 149MHz ram clock, so I had to go buy more PC-133 from Circuit City to clear up the problem. Works nice now:)

Sometimes I get a slight temprature problem though and my box shuts off once the cpu gets around 58C icon_cry.gif

I'd like a better CPU cooler before I head off to college, I know that for sure:) How do those Zaleman noiseless coolers perform? (Copper Radial Fin ones)
