Got the new PC up and running and mostly configured. had to kill 17 startups. I even got a low virtual memory on the first boot LOL. Going to start uninstalling tonight. Actually pretty quick feeling right now.

I'm kind of sick of pre-made computers. I guess it's just that all the Dells that I've worked with were total crap-boxes with pretty cases. I've heard that their hardware degrades at a higher rate than other computers, but I'm not sure how much truth there is in that.
Have fun with your annoying machine!
--> Actually, my Photography teacher just bought a couple of really nice Dells for photoshop purposes. They're as good as my computer, but since they come pre-built they are not as cool and flashy, and cost about $150 more.
I only spent around $350 total on my computer, but the Dells (without wireless and other stuff) were almost $500.

My first computer in 1996 was on the order of $4150 Cdn. Incredible. What I could build for that now would be insane.

Aren't most machines annoying?, And actually it has been pretty solid for what I use it for, which seems today is standing up for the defenseless Michael Dell
.
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Fortunately, have an older Dell P3-500mg chip, about the same age as t_b's set, less expensive than his, $3,200 in the late 90ties, have build a few more that work well but like to use the Dell ... just holding it together ... will replace with another soon?

Good luck with the Dell mate. Its the best you can buy prebuilt and in many cases cost less and has better componets than a homebuilt.

Thanks Pappy. I usually build my own. I was just in a hurry this time. And I agree completely about the cost and components. Unless you shop around and play the rebate game, your not going to touch them on pricing.

Ray, it is called economies of scale or buying power. They big, we small, they can buy for far cheaper than we can. As to the rebate shuffle, forget that shit. Don't trust them and never will.

You're welcome Ray. I suspect that you already knew some, if not all of that. If so, my apologies, sir.
