I am trying to get my unlocked Duron 1GHZ to run at 133 FSB. ( I want the clock speed to be near 1GHZ, but the FSB to be 133)
When I do change it to 133 it won't boot.
I have tried changing the voltage, and adjusting the multiplier from 5-7.5.
The system is within a reasonable temperature range.
I am not as familiar with AMD based systems as with Intel based systems, but I assumed the DIMM clock would make no diffrence as it can be adjusted seperately from 100-133, also if the system can run at 133 with an Athlon or a Thunderbird I assumed that the cpu FSB was seperate from the AGP and PCI clocks, meaning the RAM, PCI, and AGP cards would have no effect on the cpu FSB change.
Is that correct ? Is it possible my cpu just won't do 133 ?

I thought the RAM PCI AGP where factored from the FSB?

PM5K, what mobo/chipset do you own? you have to have a 266 or equavalent chipset to get 133fsb or higher.

I have an MSI K7T Turbo 2, which supports 100/133 FSB, and uses SDRAM @ 100/133.
The motherboard uses the KT133A and I believe the 686B (Whichever one supports ATA 100)

yah, so it supports sdram @ 133, the fsb @ 100/200...so you cannot get it to run @ 133 fsb...hope for 107/214 with good cooling...

You confused me there, like I said I am not familiar with AMD's, but the board does support the 133 FSB, it also supports up to a 1900+.
Maybe you can explain it to me so I can understand.

hmm, well, are you sure the duron is unlocked properly?...can you get it to post at a fsb of around 115?

I think the highest I got it to post was 116, and after that it wouldn't.
On my board it has a jumper for 100 or 133, and as soon as I set it to 133 it won't boot.
It is unlocked correctly, before I set the jumper to 133 I set the multiplier to 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7 or 7.5, and when it won't boot at 133 I put the jumper back on and it posts at 500 or whatever MHZ depending on the multiplier I set.

I did, I tried everything from 5-7.5, because I didn't want to overclock the CPU, only the FSB.
I also tried upping the voltage to the max and in between, that didn't help either.

is your memory bus and your fsb independant of each other?
try different multis and different fbs speeds

Yes, as far as I know they are, because I have one option for the memory (100,133) and it also has a jumper for the cpu to run at 100,133.
Also the BIOS has the ability to change the FSB in one mhz increments, up to 132, which confuses me, would that change starting at 133 if I changed the fsb jumper and got it to post ?

....... I've got my 750t/b(200 fsb) @ 933 (266 fsb).... does your system POST or just black screen...... If you can get into the BIOS check your memory speed...... when I was mucking with the Redstorm OC thing the fsb would get to 117 and the ram would be at 150

PCI AGP are factored off the ration of either 2/3 or 1/4
which is based off cpu fsb
the idea is that if u can push your cpu up to using the 133mhz fsb then you can switch the ration over to 1/4 and be perfectly fine in regards to pci and agp bus speeds. RAM is genrally factored on its own, most motherboards offer the option of running the ram at say 100+33 if you are running a 100mhz fsb cpu or at full 133, some are fully indendant which is cool. Anyway durons run nicely at 133mhz fsb. what you do is lower the clock so that you still have the same or close to the same clock speed eg 1ghz but get the extra bandwidth of 133mhz fsb, which in the case of durons is 2x133 so you get an extra 66mhz

memory speed sorry is not independant.
either
1. fsb freq
2. fsb freq + pci freq
thats how pc133 ram was introduced into 100fsb motherboards, by adding the pci clock.
