Hi Peeps,
I am unable to send pic of files over the msn messenger. Under connections I am using http proxy, port 80, but I think I need to be using Socks Version 4 which gives me a much higher port, But when I change the settings, it will no longer let me sign in. And their help program will not give me answers, I am hoping you can. Thanks

Queenie, are you running a firewall (ie zone alarm)? I no remember.

If you are, you have to allow messenger server rights to send/recieve files. icon_confused.gif

yes bull, I have zone alarm, but even when I shut it off, I still can't send pic or files. I am reasonably sure it is the proxy i am using. Is there something in xp I need to change that will allow me to use Socks which has a higher port number. It almost make me miss my old ME. Who said that icon_question.gif

Why are you using a proxy? You have the same cable as gooble, right?

Try tuning off the proxy thing, tell ZA to allow server and see what goes. icon_confused.gif

I was wondering the same thing Bull, why the proxy? I was gonna ask her that when she first posted but I figure it was just something I was unfamiliar with. icon_confused.gif

Well she is Queen of Buttwipes.

I installed xp and kinda got her started, but being broadband challenged at that time, was not sure how to setup the cable. I don't think our bud down the road uses a proxy, but he might? icon_confused.gif

make sure you are not running Microsoft's built in FireWall. Messenger needs a whole bunch of ports open. It makes your firewall look like swiss cheese.

AS it turns out, it was the built in firewall that xp has, with petyr and the bulls help, we got it turned off and everything is working fine. No proxy now. Thanks guys. Queenie
