Here's a video that goes back and forth from a 1940s furnace to a modern Blast Furnace. I believe they are talking in Dutch, but not sure. The old stuff is really neat to me. When I started in the mill 1971, some of the old timers had started in the 30s. And they used to talk about the equipment of that era. The old furnace is making pig iron, as you can see with the guy squating down. Pig iron is just regular molten iron, that was casted on the ground into molds, that resembled a Sow with piglets.
