Hell, I still have a 9800Pro and it hasn't let me down yet.
If you want to run at full graphics, you will need more card though. The 8800 is supposed to be the shit.
Wow, thats... 4 generations old now isn't it? The HD3870 is looking back and saying "daaaamn! and that was my great-great grandpa?? unbelievable!"
But no, seriously, GeForce 6800's can be found for $80. They're the high-end of the GeForce 6 series, and will still run alot of games just fine at 1280x1024 maxed. The newest games however I recommend a GeForce 7 minimum, or a GeForce 8 or even 9 (don't buy the 9800 GTX, the 8800 GTX is actually a bit faster!) I have a GeForce 8800GT and Crysis is the only game I can't run maxed out at 1680x1050 (20" Acer monitor). Other than Crysis, there isn't a game out that pushes this card to the brink of death (so-to-speak, that'd be a costly habit). Test Drive Unlimited: 45fps minimum (usually doesn't go much higher though). NFS Pro Street: 65fps, easily handled. GTA San Andreas w/ oblivion mod v2? Uhh... 109fps. WoW v2.3.3: 45fps...
Very powerful card to say the least, and best part is you can pick one up for like $270. A GeForce 9600 is nearly identical in terms of performance.
