MBF
Me and Mrs MBF were out of town visiting her Father in the Hospital.( treatment for an on going heart ailment) And the family decided to go out for dinner, after visiting to a resturant called "Logans". The place was packed with about 300 people.

When Lindas oldest brother starting choking on a bread roll, he couldn't even breathe a little. Well everyone is jumping, screaming, and just generally panicked. I happened to be seated next to him and had CPR training about 20 years ago. Well I'm quite sure I didn't do it exactly right, but I was the only one stepping up to the plate. It took like 5-6 thrusts before it finally popped out, with the last two thrusts being significantly harder.. Wow it was ALOT harder to do then I thought! It sure looks easy on TV lol. Well bottom line is, he went from being in major trouble to just fine in about 30 seconds.

I'm going to go back and retake CPR training, and Linda wants to go also. I'm sure my memory and the methods have changed over 20+ years icon_smile.gif

Thanks DF! I was really starting to get worried when it didn't work at first.

Ms Df has taugh this for several years for the American Red Cross, and at university level-where she has taught health classes for several years. Apparently, you need to be always updated, or take refresher courses in this area. Have an idea what to do .... she did teach me, but it would scare the pegibbies out of me to do it! Would do it, but have the same concerns that you noted. Still, the idea is to try-you did, and the outcome was wonderful and rewarding. thumbup1.gif thumbup1.gif thumbup1.gif

This link below is an expression of gratitude to Dr. Heimlich, and indeed to those like MBF, and all others that have helped people, by using this rescue method-maybe it will encourage others. thumbup1.gif
